These days, most everyone knows that where there’s snow and sunshine there’s also water, and where there’s water there’s also some sort of fish. In any season (yep, we fish year-round in Breckenridge), polish up the skills and update your Facebook status to: Gone Fishin’. Today, I did just that. I went out with my friend Dan Lee to see the cunning angler at work, and check out the amazing views that make Breckenridge, CO one of my favorite places to fish.
To learn more about the local area, or to get fishing advice or recommendations, check out our favorite local fly/guide shops:
Picking the bait is not a guess. Finding out what’s used in the local area can give any angler an advantage.
It’s been a while. Remember how to tie flies?
The art requires patience and accuracy.
And then we were off…
Just North of Breckenridge, on the Blue River, views of the resort offer an incredible contrast between the seasons.
If you can’t catch the fish, at least you can watch it swim away.
It’s all about location, location, location.
And the hunt continued… Location, location, location…
Being so close to source, the clear water can tease and inspire even the most novice fisherman.
The landscape offers plenty of stimulating views, and the solitude could calm even the most restless of souls.
The beaver pond. Hoping for a lazy one…
No fish yet. But at least our luck had run out… Now we could only blame our skills.
Desperate times call for desperate measures. “Let’s hide behind these rocks.”
Although we didn’t catch anything, the weather, the camaraderie, and the views were amazing. I’ve heard that life’s not about the goal, but the process. I would agree.
