It’s beginning to feel like there is a lot to whine about this time of year. Its tax season, Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and there is a serious lack of snow for all the powder hounds out there.

D'Vine Wines Tasting Room

Head over to D'Vine Wines for Happy Hour or Ladies Night on Thursdays

Maybe it’s time to change your tune with a nice glass of wine …. or two, or three.

Located on Main Street right next to The Crown coffee shop on the second level of the mall, D’Vine Wines is rather unassuming, and while you might be tempted to walk on by, you would be cheating yourself if you didn’t check out the great selection of wines from this boutique Colorado winery.

The glow of the low hanging lights over the front counter gives the place an intimate feel, and whether you’re by yourself or with a group of ten, the folks at D’Vine Wines bend over backwards when it comes to accommodating the people who walk through the door.

While you might want to categorize D’Vine Wines as just another Breckenridge wine bar, the place sets itself apart by serving only their own custom wines made from the highest quality varietals.

The best part? You can learn a thing or two while you are there.

Instead of choosing a specific wine by the glass, opt for the tasting and sit at the bar as the staff walks you through the subtle nuances each variety has to offer.

Despite all their other great qualities, one of the best things I like about D’Vine Wines is that they aren’t afraid to have fun. So often, when you choose to spend an afternoon or evening sampling wines it can feel a bit stuffy after a while. Not the case here.

Find a seat at one of the many tables and flex your brain muscles with some chess

Saturday nights at D’Vine Wines features “Music, Merlot, and Massage,” and at 6 p.m. the place starts bustling as a massage chair get in place in the corner and resident singer extraordinaire Naked Pete takes the stage.

The casual atmosphere at D’Vine Wines is pretty hard to beat and, if you’re feeling a little looser after a few glasses, you might get talked in to putting on the big, purple grape suit hanging up in the corner. Complete with white, felt gloves and skin-tight cap, customers daring enough to put on the grape suit are encouraged to take to the street to recruit new customers in to the tasting room. If you’re successful, sometimes there is a free glass of wine in your future. Either way, it makes for a hilarious photo opportunity for all your friends.

Whether you’re visiting Breckenridge or you are a long time local looking for a new place to make your regular spot, check out the D’Vine Wine tasting room at 211 S. Main Street or you can visit the winery’s website for more information at www.winerysilverthorne.com. Don’t get too thrown off with the website address… they also have a tasting room in Silverthorne as well.
