Congratulations to Mike Michelin for winning GoBreck‘s Channel Your Inner Ullr contest. With over 150 submissions, Mike’s Inner Ullr shined above the rest. We chose him based upon his creativity and inspiration of Ullr, the Norse god of snow. Check out Mike’s latest photos from this week’s Ullr’s activities, and if you missed reading who he is and what he’s all about, read our Q&A below the photos. And, of course, check back for even more photos of his Breckenridge adventures.
Let the Ullr Festivities begin!
It didn’t take long for Mike and his friends to adjust to the elevation of Breckenridge, arriving to Ullr Schnapps, viking helmets and the nightlife of Breckenridge. Check out what happened when 5 boys spent a week celebrating the Norse God of Snow:
**VIEWER DISCRETION ADVISED**
What’s a ski vacation with out a shoulder dislocation?
Where are you from and where do you reside now?
I live in Indianapolis, where I came after college (Ball State University 2008). I am originally from the Northwest Indiana area (called “the region”). I also lived in Montana when I was younger, where I got my first taste of the Rockies at Big Sky and learned how to ski. Since we moved to Indiana, where I’ve grown up, I’ve only been able to snowboard places in the Midwest. I’ve never been to Breckenridge, or anywhere in Colorado Rockies for that matter.
Have you heard of Ullr before?
I had actually never heard of “Ullr” until I saw the contest you guys did, however, through the contest I’ve learned that he’s very well admired across Breckenridge. I’m especially excited for Ullr Fest, and from what I’ve heard, it’s going to be a ridiculously awesome party!
What are you looking forward to during your winter Breckenridge getaway?
Other than the Ullr Fest and the undoubtedly awesome partying that will happen, I’m really excited to get a chance to snowboard an ACTUAL mountain. The highest elevation I’ve snowboarded since I could remember is 900 feet, which pales in comparison to Breckenridge’s 13,000 peak height. Also, riding on a float in the parade is going to be quite an experience and something I’m really looking forward to! Hopefully we get to be decked out in some sweet Viking gear!
Who are you bringing with you to Ullr Fest?
I’m coming with four of my closest friends (two of them are my roommates, actually) all of which have been snowboarding most of their lives as well.
The Channel Your Inner Ullr contest ran Nov. 7 to Dec. 12. The contest drew over 150 submissions, some of which reached over 300 votes. We appreciate everyone who participated and encourage everyone to join us for this unforgettable festival in Breckenridge. Visit GoBreck.com for the perfect Ullr Fest Package, including dog sledding, lodging, a spot on the GoBreck Ullr float and more.
