With less than a week until the 3rd Annual Breckenridge Craft Spirits Festival, there is still plenty of time left to enjoy some great cocktails from some of the best Colorado distillers.
1) There is no better way to kick off some great recipes than to start with breakfast. Featured here, from the Breckenridge Distillery — the highest distiller in the world, using its handcrafted whiskey, the Breckenridge “Breckfast”:
2oz Breckenridge Bourbon Whiskey
5mml maple syrup
2 oz. apple cider
1oz ginger ale
Garnish with thick-cut bacon rubbed with cayenne pepper and brown sugar baked in the oven. Take a mini Eggo waffle fresh from the toaster and make a slit for the glass, then drizzle a melted blueberry butter infusion on top of the waffle. Served over ice. Created by Billie Keithley
2) Moving right along to another Breckenridge Distillery favorite, featuring its Breckenridge Vodka, the SnowBrero:
Juice of ½ lime
1/2 oz. guava syrup
2 oz. Breckenridge Vodka
Large dash agave nectar
Add ice. Shake with ice, then pour over ice. Garnish with cilantro and a twist of lime. Created by Billie Keithley
3) A distillery finding its home in Loveland, CO, needs no introduction, Spring 44, with tastes from its Spring 44 Vodka, Spring Gimlet:
2 oz. Spring44 Vodka
1 oz. fresh lime juice
1/3 oz. agave nectar
Place all ingredients in the bottom of a mixing glass, and then shake with ice. Strain into desired glass with or without ice. Garnish with a lime wedge.
4)Leaving you with one more thirst quencher from Spring 44, featuring its Spring 44 Gin, the Loveland Mule:
1 1⁄2 oz. Spring44 Gin
4 oz. Ginger Beer
2 lemon wedges
Squeeze lemon wedges into bottom of a highball glass. Add raspberries, then muddle in glass. Add ice, and then top with gin and ginger beer. Stir a few times with a straw.
